App Abstract

This project developed a compact Bluetooth wearable and a multi-platform mobile app. It enables proximity-based alerts, when the wearable moves beyond a user-set distance, the app triggers audio and flashlight alerts, while the device vibrates and beeps. Alerts cease upon re-entry. The app also offers essential device info like battery and signal status, plus management features including naming and multi-device support.

Client’s Requirement

Mobile App: Cross-platform with an intuitive UI displaying battery, Bluetooth status, and colourful function tabs. Features include user-changeable device name, real-time battery/signal strength, and easy navigation. Core functions: Bluetooth control, battery/signal display, set distance, and disconnect. Crucially, a proximity alert system triggers MP3 audio and flashlight on the phone, plus device beep/vibration, when distance is exceeded, with alerts stopping upon re-entry. Supports multi-device connections and app store deployment. Wearable Device: Minimum size with Type-C charging for a 400 mAh LiPo battery, featuring ultra-low standby current. Includes a power-efficient ON/Off switch (MOSFET/flip-flop), integrated buzzer, LED (with power/connection indicators), and vibrator for alerts.

List of App Features

Real-time Status Dashboard: Displays current battery percentage of the wearable, Bluetooth connection status, and signal strength.
Dynamic Device Naming: Allows users to personalise the name of their connected wearable device for easy identification.
Intuitive Navigation: Tab-based interface on the front page for quick access to various functions, with dedicated sub-pages for detailed settings and a clear "back" button.
Customisable Proximity Alert: Enables users to set a specific distance threshold. When exceeded, the app triggers a selected MP3 audio alert and flashes the phone's flashlight.
Bi-directional Alerting: Coordinates alerts between the app and the wearable, causing the wearable to vibrate and beep when the distance is breached, and ceasing all alerts upon re-entry into the safe zone.
Continuous Monitoring: Maintains fast and accurate distance measurements to ensure reliable and responsive alerting.
Multi-Device Management: Supports simultaneous connection and monitoring of multiple wearable devices from a single mobile application.
